Kybella Q & A

Aesthetic Assets - Face and Body Rejuvenation

What causes a double chin?

There are many reasons you may develop a double chin, including genetics, significant weight gain, and age. Double chins tend to run in families. If your mother or father had one, don’t be surprised if you develop one, too. And while maintaining a healthy diet is a good first step in getting rid of your double chin, it may linger despite your best efforts at a healthy lifestyle.

Certain facial exercises may help diminish the appearance of a double chin, but if your double chin refuses to disappear naturally, consider Kybella, the only FDA-approved injection therapy for eliminating the submental fat underneath your chin.

What is Kybella?

Kybella involves a series of injections made from deoxycholic acid, which permanently destroys fat cells. The cells are then naturally eliminated through your body’s lymphatic system.

Before your Kybella treatment, your Aesthetic Assets provider numbs the treatment area to ensure your comfort during the injection therapy. You’ll receive a number of injections — in some cases, as many as 50 — depending on the amount of fat under the skin and your desired chin profile.

What can I expect after a Kybella treatment?

Following your Kybella treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling, or bruising. These side effects may last as long as 4-6 weeks, but you can expect noticeable, long-lasting results once the inflammation subsides.

You can typically resume your normal activities immediately after treatment,  but you may want to wait about 24 hours before engaging in strenuous exercise.

Most people need at least two treatments and as many as six, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The exact number of treatments varies depending on the individual.

If you want a slimmer profile, call Aesthetic Assets or book a consultation online today to learn more about Kybella and find out if it’s right for you.
