Microneedling Q & A

Aesthetic Assets - Face and Body Rejuvenation

What is microneedling?

Also referred to as collagen induction therapy, microneedling involves creating microchannels in the skin to induce the body’s wound-healing response. It involves three phases:

Inflammation

During the first phase, inflammation sparks the immune system, which begins the process of cleaning out debris, healing the wounds, and increasing blood supply.

Proliferation

Phase two initiates the beginning of the new skin production process. In addition to the growth of new skin cells, elastin and collagen start forming, adding volume.

Remodeling

In the third and final phase, the new skin tissue completes its growth process, and the elastin and collagen framework strengthens. The result is firmer, tighter skin.

What skin conditions can microneedling treat?

Microneedling can be used on all skin types, and on all parts of the body, to treat the following issues:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Stretch marks

The added volume results in more vibrant, glowing skin. For this reason, microneedling is particularly popular for use on the face. Microneedling can be used to stave off the appearance of lines and wrinkles, stopping the aging process.

What is involved in a microneedling session?

Before performing the microneedling treatment, Pam or Stacey applies a numbing cream to ensure your comfort during the 20-minute procedure.

At Aesthetic Assets, Pam and Stacey use the SkinPenⓇ to create hundreds of micro-injuries in your skin. By inducing the production of new skin cells, microneedling smooths over wrinkles, crow’s feet, acne scars, and forehead creases. Plus, the minimally invasive treatment is virtually painless.

Your skin may be a little red, and you may experience some itching after treatment, but this should subside within a day or two. You’ll be able to resume your normal daily activities right away.

For optimal results, you may need up to four microneedling sessions, which should provide you with healthier, more vibrant skin for up to six months.
