Acne Treatment and Prevention — What Are My Options?

You’re tired of going to battle with the angry red bumps on your skin and while over-the-counter products are long on promises, they’re short on results. You share this frustration with up to 50 million people in the United States, making acne the most common skin condition out there.

Traditionally, acne has been very difficult to treat, but new science has led to products and services that not only prevent acne, but that make quick work of acne breakouts.

Here at Aesthetic Assets, Pam Andow, Stacey Molina, Tamara Kaye, Natallie Swain,  and the rest of the experienced aesthetic team, understand the frustration that comes with waging war against acne, which is why we’ve equipped ourselves with the solutions you need.

Here, we explore four highly effective treatment options for preventing and managing acne.

DiamondGlow®

If your goal is to clear an acne breakout, we offer the DiamondGlow system, which is a next-level skin-resurfacing treatment.

DiamondGlow is a noninvasive, three-in-one treatment that can tackle stubborn acne by:

  1. Exfoliating your skin
  2. Extracting the debris that can clog your pores
  3. Infusing your skin with medical-grade serums that protect against future outbreaks.

The DiamondGlow treatment is extremely popular among our clients, and you can check out some of the great before-and-after photos here.

Lasemd Ultra®

Another great technique for hitting the reset button on acne-prone skin is our advanced LaseMD Ultra. With Lasemd Ultra, we break up surface concerns, including acne and acne scarring by creating tiny microchannels across the surface of your skin.

We then infuse these tiny microchannels with specialized serums that revitalize your skin from within. Afterwards, we apply a double layer mask to help with inflammation and hydration.

There’s little-to-no downtime after the Lasemd Ultra treatment, and it’s an excellent option for all skin types.

Chemical peels

One of the tried-and-true techniques for banishing acne is through a chemical peel, and we offer a wide selection at our practice.

Depending upon the extent of your acne (or acne scarring), we can use various acids that offer different depths of peel. For example, a simple salicylic acid peel is a light peel that gently strips away the very top layer of your damaged skin cells.

If the problem runs a little deeper, we can try a medium peel, which relies on glycolic or trichloroacetic acid. These peels reach past your epidermis and into the top layer of your dermis for a better resurfacing of your skin.

After these peels strip away surface concerns such as acne, you’re left with smoother, blemish-free skin. We offer peels from JanMarini and SkinMedica. Please consult our aesthetician to see which peel is best for you.

Hollywood Laser Peel®

Hollywood Spectra by Lutronic is a versatile laser platform designed to gently deliver specialized laser energy to reduce visible skin pigmentation and to keep acne at bay.

The laser energy is adjusted to your skin type and condition so that it can be precisely targeted to address your concerns.

First we apply the Spectra lotion and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Secondly we apply gentle heating to the lotion on your outer skin. Finally we do a laser exfoliation of the outer epidermal layer to reveal a brighter complexion. We have a special acne protocol that we follow for our acne patients to obtain optimal results!

Products For Home Use

No matter what therapies you receive in our office, it’s very important to have a good skin care regimen at home to keep your results looking great.  Remember the 80/20 rule: 80% of results are from what you do at home and 20% of results are from office treatments. We have our own skin care line that is specifically targeted for acneic skin. Please consult with our team to incorporate the right products for home use.
